I - FINDING YOUR COLOR

Every outfit and every garment has 3 fundamental and inescapable dimensions: style, shape and color.

Once you've found the first 2. It's important to look at the colors, the ones you like and, above all, the ones that make you stand out.

There are colors that brighten your complexion, and colors that extend your personality.

  • Colors that brighten your complexion

To determine them, we perform a colorimetry test. This test consists of passing colored scarves under your face, comparing the colors two by two. There are a few criteria you can use to see whether a color suits you or not. But it's not that simple: you need to be trained to be able to see the result.

17:10 offers you a free colorimetry experience during an in-store image consulting session, but you can also find them at image consultants' offices.

  • Colors that match your personality

For example, blue evokes confidence and calm, while red symbolizes passion and power. Green represents balance and hope, and yellow embodies joy.

Knowing the meaning of colors is therefore a real asset when it comes to choosing the right clothes, as colors are a communication tool that allow you to send unconscious messages to your interlocutors.

Whether it's a business meeting, a romantic dinner or an outing with friends, you can choose your colors to suit the occasion!

The way you combine and place colors also sends a message.

II- PLACING THE COLOR

You'll feel more comfortable with color depending on the areas you apply it to.

To wear a colorful piece with confidence, there are various solutions.

You can wear it on your bottom : pants, skirt, shorts... , to keep it out of sight, so you can wear it throughout the day. Especially if you spend a lot of time sitting behind a desk, for example, this touch of color will be less obvious.

You can also dress in a colorful top that you cover with a jacket. This way, you'll slowly get used to wearing color, with the guarantee of being able to dress discreetly if need be.

An easy solution: the little plain dress, chosen in a beautiful, bold color. No headaches about what to wear with what.

We can only recommend our Nairobi or Biarritz dresses for chic simplicity.

Monochrome outfits are also a solution.

A monochrome outfit is ideal for slimming and stretching the figure. In fact, someone dressed all in white will look just as slim as someone wearing black. Again, this is an optical illusion. If you visualize the overall outfit, you can easily imagine a long line and understand how this vertical line can visually elongate you.. At 17:10 we know that the secret to a charming , colorful total look lies in acquiring a good suit.

III - THE MATERIAL COUNTS

It may seem surprising, but material plays an important role when it comes to playing with colors. In fact, a beautiful material is always preferable because :

  1. it reproduces colors well
  2. it adds an extra touch of elegance
  3. It's more resistant to the passage of time, ensuring that the color doesn't fade over the months (provided you follow the care instructions).

And then there are luminous and matte fabrics, each of which will have a different effect on your face. Take a good look at your face in the mirror: does this fabric bring out your features harmoniously? Is it more suitable for your skin tone, or does it give the impression of not reflecting enough light?

Do this little exercise with collars or stoles of different materials, but in the same color if possible: linen, wool, cotton...

Of course, it's not always easy to get started, but you'll see that adding color to your wardrobe gives a new dimension to your style and reveals your bold personality. So dare to step out of your comfort zone and add a vibrant touch to your everyday life!
