Mélina, business law student
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Mélina, I'm 23 this year and I'm studying for a Master 1 in business law. I live near Paris and would like to work in ethical finance.
Is there one person who symbolizes ambition for you?
For me, ambition is two people: my mother and my grandfather. My mother because she's someone who's always had crazy dreams, like making churros outside at Christmas, why? I have no idea, but at least we were happy. She also had other professional ambitions, like setting up her own business with three children, and she succeeded. I think of her as a woman who was always beautiful and well-dressed.
And my grandfather, because he had three careers in his life. He never hesitated to change countries, to live his dreams and to set up a social grocery store during his retirement. It's a very time-consuming project, but one that animated him every day of his life and was his greatest source of pride. Believe in your dreams, give yourself strength and courage and go for it every day with a smile on your face and a great outfit!
Do you believe in the power of clothes?
Absolutely. I believe in it 3000%! I think we all have a piece in our wardrobe that makes us invincible on the day when we need a little confidence, for an important meeting for example.
I think all the people who inspire us have a look that stands out, whether it's just a black t-shirt or sweater like Steve Jobs or superbly cut suits like Michelle Obama.
Which garment gives you self-confidence?
It's a black jumpsuit with little touches of color, a vertiginous halter top and a deep décolleté. I've worn this jumpsuit at different stages of my life, when I was very thin or a little stronger, and I've always been complimented the same way: you're gorgeous, you're beautiful. It goes with everything, from a colored jacket for a party to a black jacket for the office.
